QEII Covenant Surveys
Protecting a special part of your land — native bush, a wetland or significant habitat — with a QEII National Trust open space covenant? We prepare the survey plan that defines the covenant area and have it registered against your title.

A QEII open space covenant is a voluntary, legally binding agreement registered on your title that protects natural or cultural features in perpetuity, even when the land changes hands. Before a covenant can be registered, the covenant area must be defined on a survey plan approved by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).
We survey and prepare the covenant title plan, mark the covenant boundary on the ground where required, and work alongside the QEII National Trust and your lawyer through to registration. We have completed QEII covenant survey plans across Taranaki and the Wellington region, ranging from small bush remnants of under two hectares to blocks of more than fifty hectares.
QEII Covenant Surveys: Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a QEII covenant?
- A QEII open space covenant is a voluntary agreement with the QEII National Trust that permanently protects natural or cultural features on private land. It is registered on the title, so the protection continues even when the property is sold.
- Do I need a survey for a QEII covenant?
- Yes. The covenant area must be defined on a survey plan approved by LINZ before it can be registered against your title. We prepare that plan and see it through approval.
- Can the covenant cover just part of my property?
- Yes. A covenant commonly protects a defined area — such as a bush block or wetland — rather than the whole property. We survey and define exactly that area on the plan.
